The Dinson team of chartered accountants standing together in the Carlton office

Come do work that still has a name on it.

A small Chartered Certified practice. You will know the clients, the seniors will know you, and the files will have your judgement in them — not a ticket number.

Life at the practice

The work still has a person attached to it. That is the point of a small firm.

Dinson is a Chartered Certified practice in Nottingham, kept small on purpose. You will know the clients. The seniors will know you. When a number does not sit right, you say so — and someone in the room will listen.

We do not hire for a ticket queue. We hire people who can sit with a set of figures, a nervous director, and the legislation, and leave all three in better shape than they found them. Titles matter less than how you think.

“If the file has your name on it, the judgement has to be yours too.”

How the week is run

  1. 01

The file has a name on it

You own a portfolio, not a slice of a workflow. Clients ask for you. Seniors review your judgement — they do not rewrite it from a queue. When the advice actually matters, you are in the room.

  2. 02

Study is part of the week

ACCA, ATT, CTA — the exam is not a hobby you squeeze in after 7pm. Study leave, file-review mentoring, and a diary that makes room for the paper. We would rather a later file than a burned-out student.

  3. 03

    Ethics without the poster

ACCA rules are how the week is run, not a certificate on the wall. If a number does not sit right, you raise it. Nobody here is rewarded for looking the other way, or for dressing weak work in confident language.

  4. 04

A room in Carlton, not a Slack channel

The office is real — Renewal Trust Business Centre, Nottingham. Hybrid where the work allows. Client meetings, file reviews and the conversations that change a year still happen in person.

You will

  • Prepare work a client can recognise as theirs
  • Sit in the meeting, not just the working papers
  • Be reviewed by people who still sign files
  • Have study treated as part of the job

You will not

  • Be a ticket in someone else’s queue
  • Hide behind jargon when a plain sentence would do
  • Chase utilisation at the expense of the file
  • Wait months to hear whether you have a future here
Open seats

If your exact title is missing, write anyway.

We hire for judgement as much as letters after a name. Click a seat to see what the week actually looks like.

Own a portfolio, file with care, and stay in the room when the advice actually matters. You will prepare accounts, manage deadlines, and become the person clients ask for by name.

  • Year-end accounts and corporation tax
  • Client meetings with a senior beside you at first
  • ACCA or working towards it

Self Assessment, corporation tax, and the questions that arrive at 4pm on a deadline day. You like the legislation enough to explain it without frightening anyone.

  • Personal and corporate tax computations
  • Planning notes clients can actually use
  • ATT, CTA or ACCA welcomed

The engine room: bookkeeping, payroll, MTD, and the quiet systems that make the practice feel effortless for clients. Experience can outrank letters after your name.

  • Digital records and quarterly submissions
  • Payroll, pensions and CIS where needed
  • A calm head in a busy week

Introduce yourself
How we hire

Four conversations. No portal. No black hole.

You write. We reply. You speak to someone who still signs files. Then a decision you can trust.

A short note is enough

A few lines on who you are and the seat you have in mind. A CV can wait until we ask. We read every note ourselves — it does not disappear into a portal.

Start your note

Speak to someone who does the work

A real call with a senior who still signs files — not a screening script, and not a recruiter reading from a list. You will know within the hour whether the conversation has a future.

A real file, not a puzzle

A short, practical exercise that looks like a week here: a client note, a set of figures, a question a senior would actually ask. We are looking at how you think, not how fast you click.

A clear yes — or a clear no

Terms, study support, and a start date that respects notice periods. If it is not a fit, we say so. You will not be left waiting on a maybe.

Before you write

Questions people ask before they apply

If the answer is not here, call. An unfinished thought is welcome.

No. A short note is enough to start. If the conversation goes further, we will ask for a CV or examples of work then.

Yes. Study is treated as part of the week, not a hobby you squeeze in after 7pm. We discuss support, study leave and file-review mentoring at offer stage.

The office is in Carlton, Nottingham. Hybrid is possible where the work allows. Client meetings and file reviews still happen in the room.

Yes. We care more about how you think than an unbroken timeline. Tell us the story in a few lines.

We aim to reply within one business day. If a seat is not a fit, we will say so clearly rather than leave you waiting.
